Ok, thanks. I'll have this done by an electronic engineer anyway, I'm not good at these things. I have a ZIP drive whose ID can only be set to 5 or 6. Is this a problem? Do I need the Plus disk in this case or is there a way to set the ID to 0 anyway? --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "jammie.emma" <jammie.emma@...> wrote: > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Dave Sotnick <sotnickd@> wrote: > >there are 3 ways of doing it you can by a 50pin scsi idc to 50 pin centronics internal/external socket and use a external 50 pin centronics to 25 pin cable to the zip100 drive or you can use the internal 26 pin idc male connector on the mother board and get a 26 pin idc to parrallel port 25db cable which is the same termination as scsi 1 in both situations you will need to drill and punch out the holes for the back plate sockets > > the other option is to use a internal zip100 drive which you can plug the 50 idc cable straight in the back but you will need to do the slim floppy conversion as its easier to use the floppy to format the first zipdrive with the os after that you can format the zipdrive from the emax using thee os on the zip > > either way it means opening up your machine and doing work on the back panel or the front panel > > you need to way up the pro,s and cons to decide which root you will go > > You don't need the SCSI upgrade kit as the Emax SE HD already has SCSI. > > > > If you want to use external SCSI ZIP drive, you will need to extend the > > 50-pin SCSI ribbon cable to a 25-pin SCSI connector on the back of the rack > > case.
