Subject: [emax] Sound Design: TM "had problems...."

I remember one of the key people in development who had done all of
  this TM work
(not Transendental Meditation -- that's on the David Lynch list!) and
  this person told
me that "It really didn't work out..." and "It had a lot of problems,
  bugs in the code...".

But I have had really wonderful results on the Emax HD SE that I have
  except for
the time it takes to do the calculations and the guessing-game that it
  can become.

I used small, harmonically rich samples in tiny bits and experiments.
  And if one
combination worked then I would jump on that pair and follow that path
  to see
  where it would take me.

Now I see that the new EMU PC-based version of their sampler has the
  "Transform
Multiply" as an addition to their already powerful engine.

I'm wondering if they recompiled the original code? Or if it is the
  same code that we
all have with Emax? And WOW! -- If I could apply a couple of GIGs of
  RAM to TM
and use multi-samples that change their harmonic content during the
  time domain,
that would be spectacular! Very impressive if it works! And no more
  hours of waiting
for a process to finish one would hope...?

I do not know a single person who has the PC version of the EMU
  sampler. I think
that's rather odd. Never hear anything about it or it being
  discussed. Loads of
discussion about the Virus synth for example...

Anyway, I have not had TM error-out on me yet. Run out of memory --
  yes!
"Bugs" or evidence of them? No.

Anybody care to share their thoughts and reflections on TM? And their
  experience
  past and or present?
