My Emax 1 rack did similar and it was the connection to the AC "in" on  
the power supply.
1 leg of the AC wasn't getting through. I replace the power connection  
both sides (connector and pins on the wires) and voila!

If the symphtoms are:

Good auto check (all leds flash once when you turn it on, then Analog  
Processing one is gone as the OS is loaded from disk).

After it, All buttons and keys don't work.

Then I would suggest the IM 386 (R1125) sub CPU processor.
