Emax Timing

2010-01-08 by el macaco

I can't find the message about the emax losing it's timing, but I did a test on my Emax HD SE Rack sequenced from my MPC, I sent it fast hihats, kicm snare toms, congas, everything that I had on the trap kit factory disk and it was really solid at 160 BPM.

Then I cranked it to 300 BPM, and sent 32nd note hihat rolls to it and I heard what at first sounded like the timing screwing up, but really seemed to be just voice stealing which made the beat sound janky but what remained was still in time.

I am not sure if this is a valid test for the problem you were having, but maybe try the supermode to have each sound on it's own voice. It might help.

Also if you have a sequence and a program where it happens clearly, if you want you can send it (standard midi file for the MPC or on the emax's sequencer, up to you) and I'll test it to see if I get the same results. it could be a problem with the machine.

I did some sampling on my emax for the first time in a while, and running the OS off of compact flash with the internal HD dead, it is amazing how quiet it is. But I really miss the *ZipZip ZIP* sound of the harddrive after you selected a module. It was really nice feedback when you hit the buttons. I guess I'll get used to it.
