i have just uploaded to the files section a frequency to samples chart sheet this helps with setting up single cycle waveforms and multiples there off but it wont help with samples that are unison or multi oscillator with different frequency as there will be multi single cycles playing at different speeds what it is good for is taking single oscillator from a synth and finding single loops of 1 period cycle then you add these together in the emax to get a dual oscillator synth you can also mix the oscillators in a wave program to get different versions of 1 period single cycle waves but remember the single cycle wave has to be exactly the same size also you need to lower the volume of both cycles as adding them to gether multiplies the volume so lower them to -6 db then mix then then normalize them to -1 db that way you get a perfect level of sound with out digital overload 0db is the highest that a digital system can go before popping and white noise you can use emxp to get the samples into the emax if you do every thing in 16bit 44.1 khz then every thing works out easy as they are perfect numbers if you use the key of a a4=440hz=100 samples this is the middle c or equal temp as used by the European composers this is how the prophet vs does its sounds it uses 4 oscillators with four single cycle waves which go from 33 to 127 the 32 are user samples waves of 256 samples long they are then mixed in a four way vector mixer then put through a four-pole filter resonant you can achieve the same sounds on a emax very easily i do a lot of emulation using the ensonig synth,s because they can have upto 8 layers making it easy to do four layer synths but you can do it on a emax 1 or 2 or 3 you need to use 2 midi channels each with 2 layers each then use 4 single cycle waves any will do then set each layer to a chord note use any 4 chord you want say 1-3-5-7 now when you hit the keyboard you will get a chord then set the volumes to lfo but each one to a slightly different setting some - some plus now when you hit a key you shold hear the cord vector between each of the voices now use the filter and vca to shape the sound add chorus and viola a prophet vs emulation what is nice is being able to set 2 different filter settings for each channel and setting the arp to 1 channel then your into vangelis teritory but that is all virtual analogs are just single cycle waveform synths of old analogs but witha hybrid sampler you can use any waveform for your osc,s the korg dss1 does this with additive single cycle waveforms that you set from 128 harmonics then you can layer them in a dual config just like the emax you have the same feature of a analog synth analog vca and filters just the osc are different treat your sampler like a analog but with a bigger pallete of osc
