Re: [emax] Emax II Stereo Upgrade - anybody want / need this?

2010-05-26 by Ing. Andrés Cortez Acereto

Hi Richard.- I have en Emax II mod.2212 and I use it with Iomega SCSI 100MB Zip drive, but I need to stuck the existing 3½ floppy drive in order to work with the Zip drive, this 3½ floppy drive doesn't work.

I would like to get a 3½ floppy for it but I'm not involved with the electronic repair work, (actually I'm clumsy in those terms.

First thing, how much is the cost for a 3½ floppy including shipping to San Diego Ca.?
It may sounds to ridiculous but , Do you have instructions to install it and to get it work???

Thank you!
Andres.

We have the new 2010 replacement floppy drives in stock at www.Route66studios.com and they are VARY easy to install. In fact all you need is a Phillips screw driver and 15 min. If you need a new OS disc I can toss one in for you.

Hi Ted, Dan here again.

I know we've been emailing back and forth for a few times. I really appreciate all your help. The situation i'm in is this: I have an Emax II that I bought on ebay, sitting on my dinning room table. I've been going over it and this is what i've found so far. Both the volume and data sliders are stiff...they move but without the usual ease. The floppy drive seems to be dead. It also looks to be a mono unit. It has scsi but at present (because of the floppy) I have no way of testing it. (I have a jaz drive but if I remember correctly, these units aren't compatible with those.)

Now the question is....might you feel up to the task of working on this unit if I were to send it to you? Do you do that sort of thing?

Dan

So I am seriously looking into recreating this upgrade.

I need to do this to mine.

Having done some research, it appears that the price would be between $75

and $100 for the upgrade.

This due to the fact that the CS5326 is an expensive component to source.

Originally, EMU sold the upgrade for $150.

Is anyone interested in this?

Let me know.

Regards,

Ted
