So I am seriously looking into recreating this upgrade. I need to do this to mine. Having done some research, it appears that the price would be between $75 and $100 for the upgrade. This due to the fact that the CS5326 is an expensive component to source. Originally, EMU sold the upgrade for $150. Is anyone interested in this? Let me know. Hi Ted, Dan here again. I know we've been emailing back and forth for a few times. I really appreciate all your help. The situation i'm in is this: I have an Emax II that I bought on ebay, sitting on my dinning room table. I've been going over it and this is what i've found so far. Both the volume and data sliders are stiff...they move but without the usual ease. The floppy drive seems to be dead. It also looks to be a mono unit. It has scsi but at present (because of the floppy) I have no way of testing it. (I have a jaz drive but if I remember correctly, these units aren't compatible with those.) Now the question is....might you feel up to the task of working on this unit if I were to send it to you? Do you do that sort of thing? Dan --- On Tue, 5/25/10, Ted Summers <djtbs1@...> wrote:

No...but all Emaxes have a stereo jack, you however need the stereo upgrade to take advantage of it. In the end you need a ADC chip a DAC chip and Eprom and a special OS disc.

As to the volume sliders- you can get them from EPR Electronics, or you could use contact cleaner and try and clean them. Mine on the Emax 2 I got are sticky too. I am going to try the contact cleaner today or tomorrow. If it doesn't work, then I am ordering new ones. Regards, Ted On May 25, 2010, at 3:26 PM, Dan Luna wrote: Hi Ted, Dan here again. OK, cool. If it works, let me know what brand you used and the results you got. I'll jump in and do it. Thanks for the info on EPR. Should I assume that the volume and data sliders are the same part? dan --- On Tue, 5/25/10, Ted Summers <djtbs1@...> wrote:

Both sliders are the same part. I did it and it made a world of difference. I just went to Radio Shack as my other local choice was already closed. It cost me $10.99. Contact Cleaner / Lubricant. They had 2 different cleaners, but this one specifically said lubricant on it, where the other one did not. Regards, Ted On May 25, 2010, at 6:59 PM, Dan Luna wrote: OK, cool. Hi Richard.- I have en Emax II mod.2212 and I use it with Iomega SCSI 100MB Zip drive, but I need to stuck the existing 3½ floppy drive in order to work with the Zip drive, this 3½ floppy drive doesn't work. I would like to get a 3½ floppy for it but I'm not involved with the electronic repair work, (actually I'm clumsy in those terms. First thing, how much is the cost for a 3½ floppy including shipping to San Diego Ca.? It may sounds to ridiculous but , Do you have instructions to install it and to get it work??? Thank you! Andres. ________________________________ De: Rish <rish@...> Para: emax@yahoogroups.com Enviado: martes, 25 de mayo, 2010 16:58:37 Asunto: Re: [emax] Emax II Stereo Upgrade - anybody want / need this? You need a floppy drive to make the emax II to recognize the stereo upgrade. I have an emax II stereo and another mono, the mono has 8MB of ram and the stereo 4 and I can't make the stereo to have the 8MB, I am stuck there with 2 machines.
