@duke canada in the house! jammie can you tell me in laymans terms how to perform the mod? i can put it in the files section then. 

is it just two wires that connect to the trim pot and which model? i notice in the data sheet for the lcd that pin 3 is 'Vo' lcd power, while pin 2 is 'Vdd' 5v power supply. you mention both those two but also an 'ov' wire? did you mean 'Vo'? do i solder the trim pot onto the lcd header?
