the inverter only changes the voltage for the contrast of the lcd remember from + to negative which was how the old lcd worked
the efoil converter is a power switching transistor and a step up transformer so that it can take a 5v signal and change it into a 5v ac signal which is then aplified by the step up transformer for the correct required voltage for thwe efoil to produce light
this is on the main board its a green square this is the item that produces a whine when you loose the backlight they also can get dammaged from a backlight fading for to long the produce a high pitched humb
