It's all relative.  If you look at what "some people" will charge for a sample disc, I think one could still buy the whole batch and still turn an eventual profit -- or like I said with wealthy philanthropists, just plain release it to the public domain. ;)  But my knowledge of wealthy people is sadly limited.

And I'm with Rish -- we were just talking (arguing?) a few days ago about 80s fashion, and how some of us holdouts still think it's pretty cool. ;)  Heck, Elvis' stage clothes sold for plenty.  Talk about something you wouldn't wear in public!

Ultimately no auction is out to give people bargains.  Just look at the price of Jupiter 8s on ebay sometime, and you can verify that. ;)
