£ 400 for a single sound disk is ridiculous.  And clothes?  Really?  It's kind of embarrassing, I think.

People could club together, 10 people at £20 (low end of estimate) or £40 
each (high end of estimate) .. could buy one disk (looks like all disks have 
the same content- just multiple copies are offered)
Someone could then copy content to blank zips for the other people?
Id be interested, anyone else?

He'll yes I'm in, and I still think the clothes are cool, nor what I would wear but to put on the wall in a box...yup!

It's all relative.  If you look at what "some people" will charge for a sample disc, I think one could still buy the whole batch and still turn an eventual profit -- or like I said with wealthy philanthropists, just plain release it to the public domain. ;)  But my knowledge of wealthy people is sadly limited.

And I'm with Rish -- we were just talking (arguing?) a few days ago about 80s fashion, and how some of us holdouts still think it's pretty cool. ;)  Heck, Elvis' stage clothes sold for plenty.  Talk about something you wouldn't wear in public!

Ultimately no auction is out to give people bargains.  Just look at the price of Jupiter 8s on ebay sometime, and you can verify that. ;)

Oops, I guess the 80s fashion thing was from the TX-816 list... my mistake.  But still. ;)

I understand that people like to collect memorabilia, and I didn't mean to take the joy out of that for anyone.

As an artist (if I can say that), I subscribe to ideals loosely based on Italian Futurist beliefs where that kind of reverence can get in the way of creativity.  When someone, and Elvis is an excellent example, is thought of with that much respect, it may become difficult for the next generation of artists to conceive of any work that might "contradict" what these people have done.  That's not to say there isn't any respect for things that have come before (which is largely where I separate myself from the Futurists).

These beliefs have evolved for me specifically because of the respect I have for what has come before.  It  has helped me free myself from the responsibility I have always felt toward the artists and their work, and let me focus more on what I think should come next.  I can appreciate nostalgia, but for me personally - I find it to be a distraction and choose to try and focus on new work.

My initial response probably seemed curt, but I didn't mean to insult anyone, especially in this community whose knowledge I value and whose members I respect.
And this email was only meant to share a bit about what I do to motivate myself;  Please do not take it as a criticism in any way.
