but the mother board is the same and i would say its the mother board not display
did you test the voltages like i said on the volume pot and the value pot as they both go to the 4051
the 4051 samples the voltage from these sliders and that voltage gets sent as logic to the cpu and lsi 2 ic the cpu interprets the logic and is sent to the lsi 2 cv control ic this then sends the control signals to the dacs
now if the front panel is at fualt then its just a cold solder joint as there are no control ic or components on the front panel apart from the inverter for the lcd which is a 5v dc to dc convertor it changes the voltage to -5v for the lcd contrast which goes to a pot that limits this voltage to -0.3 volts lower than vcc
you need a logic anyliser to see what the 4051 is recording and if the coprrect logic is being recorded its alright changing components if you have narrowed it down to that ic being the problem it could be as simple as a burnt out resistor a cap or a cold solder joint which is most likely

It may not be amount you want to pay. but saying they are not on ebay is not
correct.
Now if you are looking for only parts emax 2, that is more rare.
I still think your best bet is to send it to Jammie and have him fix it.

No one on the group appears to be selling a board at this time.
your options are simple:
1) Repair your Emax board
-either repair yourself
or
-help from Jammie.
perhaps change 4051 ICs as he suggested....
2) Buy another unit from off Ebay and use the board from that or take its
parts.

right the dac runs on its own power regulators check these 7805 and 7905
+5volts from the 7805
-5volts from the 7905 check you are getting the correct voltage if not the
dac wont work check the bypass caps on these power regs

it sound like the cvdac is at fualt its been a common fualt on the emax1
so that any control data being pan volume filter cutoff resonance dont
have
any effect
the cv dac send 0-5v control voltages to the 4051 multiplexer sample and
holds
theres 1 for volume
1 for filter cuttoff
1for resonanvce
1 for the panning
1 for vca
if the cvdac goes then you wont get any voltage to these sample and holds
so
that when you apply the volume slider there wont be any voltage to the
input
so none will be applied to the outputs
