Emax

Hi everyone:

I'm in the process of undertaking some much needed maintenance on my Emax II Turbo 8MB rack. The rack is in great physical condition and I'm only the second owner, but when powering on the other day after a normal boot, I could hear the internal hard drive "wheezing", as if it was not receiving enough power. The problem eventually went away after leaving the unit on for 10 minutes or so, but I believe it is time to replace the power supply and the old internal hard drive.

Before I undertake this work, can anyone advise on the following:

1. I purchased a new Emax "Darwin" power supply from EPR Electronics. Can anyone confirm whether this power supply is a drop-in replacement for the old supply? Are any modifications necessary?

2. I purchased a PCD-50B SCSI card reader to replace the internal hard drive. Are there any installation instructions for this covering jumper settings, mods, etc? Also, do I need to make any firmware modifications (and how can I determine which firmware is installed?)

3. I would like to purchase a slim floppy to install in addition to the PCD-50B. Ted, do you still offer these? Or is there a unit I can buy "off the shelf" that will work?
