Not to tell you something you already know, but you should back up your drive every once in awhile to a zip or something. I had an external Conner 540 that worked perfectly for 2-3 years and just recently died. When it died I had no indication it was going to. It never "misfired" or anything like that; just wouldn't spin one day and it took all those years of banks with it. I have a 300mb drive that I'm using now, but I really want to get a card reader because of that, but maybe I'll just be smart and back my stuff up until then. ________________________________ From: Matt Ferrari <ferrari808@...> To: emax@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, January 14, 2012 1:15 AM Subject: [emax] went the hard drive route again. I decided to not pursue the flash drive idea. It was a little bit beyond me right now. I just came across a connor cp30540 hard drive on ebay for a reasonably price. The one that kept showing up was $173 this one I got for $20 shipping included. Once I had it installed i tried to select the drive expecting a needs to be formatted message. Instead what I got was "not an emax2 drive" this error message stuck and prevented me from formatting it until I changed the setting on the drive and chose the format option first instead of trying to select the drive. This may have solved the problem i had with the maxtor drive that is on my desktop. That one may actually be fine. Took over a half hour to format and ended up showing 510 meg available. http://www.ferrari-dvd.com/EmaxII/101_0125.jpg so now i have a 100 meg external and the new internal 540/510 meg I'm happy for now.
