yes and no if you dont have one then you need to cut the lcd and the connector so that you can desolder 1 pin at a time
if you want to keep the connector then a desoldering station is required as you need to desolder the pins on the old lcd
as for colour there is only yellow that i know of in the oled versions
if you want blue then vfd will be best but is more work involved and are a little hight in hieght is it going into a rack or keyboard
as a keyboard you can cut holes in the pcb as the traces are directly behind the lcd panel but on the rack they re not and so you can cut o hole for the large piece on the back that stops the vfd from sitting close to the pcb
