i recently had a few acard scsi to ide cards but it did not work with the emaxes
the iodata dont work which is what most external drives are
then theres the ones that ted uses they they are still made by mpl
but they are £500 as i tried to get a bunch and it was £500 on 100 devices they would only sell them cheaper when buying 1000 devices and then it was still £400 per device and that was with out a an external case just the drives
the pcd-50b they have been stopped being made nearly 10- years ago
there is a cache of them new and they were read only ted got the firmware to do read and write and flashed them so that we had a working model
but he sold them all and they were second hand but there is a amiga company that used teds flash upgrade ands now the drives are available again
but they dont work with all samplers they dont work with ensoniq
only work with some akais
they work with yamaha a series
they work with kurzweil
and some emu samplers
most samplers only work with lun 0 as no samplers support lun which was a cdrom multi disk protocol for servers
but the pcd-50b is hot swappable unlike the cf to ide to scsi devices
as pcmcia is a hot swap interface which means you dont need to power off the device when changing media

Yes, I kind of visualized it to be a bit like active vs passive monitors where the external scsi units are in tune with the interface.
But it's about here where I don't get it. As far as I understood it - it's not just a matter of adding any scsi unit to the Emax - there are many units that isn't compatible. Does this apply to external drives as well?
Yes, the reason why I'm thinking external is because I've got a bunch of old samplers - and more are coming in :)
