Emax

Well, it seems I have a few questions I need help with. My new Emax Plus doesn't want to read the floppy drive and before I put in a new drive I would like to make sure the Emax works. I have an old 535MB DEC SCSI drive. I have access to just about any type of PC setup (I am a computer tech). When I power on the Emax+ the backlight lights up, all the lights flash red and then the Analog Processing light stays lit, sometimes the floppy will make a "read" noise 3 times and the screen will then give its welcome message. That is as far as it goes and does nothing from there. I am worried it is not the floppy, it almost looks new. It came with no disks so I have made my own with EMX.

1. Can I format the SCSI drive outside the Emax with an app like EMX in DOS or is there a better way to go?

2. It looks like I can use CN2 for the connector, is this correct?

3. I can use an external power source for the SCSI drive to test the Emax, but where would I get power for a permanent HD mod? Should I just make an adapter to split the existing floppy power?
