Emax 1 / 2 requires the floppy drive to be attached. You can't not have a floppy drive unless you jumper the floppy connector- that will definitely prevent a successful boot. As to the floppy, you can create a new one with EMX (DOS) or EMXP utilities and try and boot from it. You may wish to use this existing floppy as it was probably formatted by Emax initially and write the OS to it with one of the utilities. Also, please note that Emax uses DSDD not DSHD disks. So you have to use either DSDD or cover the hole which indicates High-density disk. or you can also buy an Emax OS floppy disk off ebay if the above doesn't work for you.
