Re: [emax] Emax 1 SE Plus (non HD) SCSI Zip Drive Interface Problem

plus os is for changing the scsi id to what ever you require this is for external drives which can be set to any other id than just 0 on the zips it has to be scsi 5

now the emax hd os will only see scsi id 0

so it wont see the zip disk at all

you need the plus os for that

now you will need to always use a floppy disk to load the os with a drive on scsi 5 becuase when the machine is switched of it looses all knowledge of this setting

and becuase it is a software switch you have to set it every time you boot the machine to scsi id 5 so that it can scan for the hd on that scsi id

now you need to make sure that the termination is on the external drive

Subject: [emax] Emax 1 SE Plus (non HD) SCSI Zip Drive Interface Problem

  Hi,

I was hoping to get some additional advice or help with my Emax ? I have an Emax 1 SE Plus (no internal HD). The Emax has factory SCSI interface ( PLus Model).

  This is the scenario:

I bought the Emax SE Plus , very clean but no software included.
  Then I bought a 1.1 Rev. boot disk .
The Emax booted and worked. The disk only had one test sample on it.
So now the Emax works, but I have no sounds.
I bought the Emax 1 library on Zip 100 disks
I then found out that my 1.1 OS would not support the SCSI interface.
  I bought a correct 1.0 OS Floppy .
Now the Emax boots with 1.0 OS , then 'Transpose' button shows SCSI ID is set at 0 . I try to change it to 5 (to match the Zip drive ID number).
The Emax will not let me change the SCSI number from 0 (zero).

That is my dilemma . The Emax can not 'see' the Zip drive. The Zip drive's ID is not adjustable, it is set at 5 I think. For some reason, the Emax won't allow me to change the SCSI ID number , I think it is supposed to be adjustable on the Emax ?

Can I get inside the Zip and change the ID to 0 (zero) ? It is an Iomega Zip 100 Parallel Drive. Or is my Emax not working correctly by not allowing me to change the SCSI number ? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong ?

It seems that the 1.0 OS was made for an Emax SE Plus HD , my Emax does not have an HD, does that matter ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Regards,
  Lori
