Ok, really please pardon my ignorance on this one. I've got the emax-os folder on my desktop. Is the image file in the EXMP folder? And do I just drag and drop it into the OS folder?

Hi

Quick update. I've installed Omniflop successfully and have formatted a DD disk. However, I'm struggling to load the right operating system onto it.

I've downloaded the emax-os folder, but I'm not sure how to get the emaxos.emax system onto a formatted disk.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Do I need to format the disk in my Emax? At the moment if I install a blank disc I'm just getting a 'Not Formatted' message, but it won't actually let me format it. Kind of chicken and egg problem I guess.

It looks like I need the OS working before I can format a disk in the Emax?

yes you can if you get the se upgradedisk from the files section and use emxp to write it to a formated emax disk

you will be able to upgrade to se functionality

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the info. I opened up the unit and it doesn't have any of the SCSI options.

1) Eprom is IP349
2) TIM Pal IC's do not support SCSI
3) No 5380 Controller at IC6

Looks like I need an earlier version of the Operating Software. Any suggestions how to create a start up suitable disc using EXMP. I've got an old XP PC that can run EXMP so could I create an Operating Disc from this?

Cheers,

Bill

HD OS 1.1 expects you have SCSI.
Usually if you have a wrong OS you will get "Wrong Software Rev" or similar.

If you have SCSI you could use HD OS 1.1 or PLUS OS 1.0 (which supports
external SCSI devices as well as an internal).

Check if you have it by reading here:

Ted
