Mac + Emax

2014-02-16 by niemand1334@...

Have a chance to buy a mac se/30 locally that supposedly works. Seems to be one of the better to communicate with Emus for sample editing. I'd be using it with an Emax 1, Emax 2 and EIII. Besides the software is there anything else required for alchemy or sound designer to work?

I have one that I'm not using. I've held onto it in the event I find a Mac, but it seems unlikely.

a specific cable rscii or something like that. I can dig through old manuals if no one else knows.

Bottom of this page talks about what that cable is and how to make one.

I'v transfered samples from an Emax I to as SE-30 over MIDI (with that setup, you'd obviously need an old serial MIDI interface as well).
It works, but it's pretty slow. Pretty unbelievably slow.

I think the RS-422 cable might be faster, but don't know. I wasn't using the sample transfer enough to peruse a better solution.
I'm interested to hear how it goes, though.

Good luck.

RS-422 is way faster than MIDI.
I tried both in the past and timed it…

5x faster if I recall.
