Hi friends, here a close up photo of both mainboard and output board, can you confirm me this all a mono sampling setup ? Any ideas where i could buy a stereo sampling kit, i have found the ADC chip and the level DAC chip but the GSTEREO PAL must be a Emu specific chip right ? Ok will try to post online links asap, my emax 2212 got 2meg but i think the guy swapped chips and i got this mono unit sampling with 2megs, thats why my config is weird ..some kind of hybrid model...:)

Hi Laurent,
It seems like someone has sold you a mono 2212. You have an early stereo Emax II (date of 1990) You'll have to check on the mainboard on IC25 if there is 457A written. If not someone has swapped all boards for an early type but upgraded the internal memory into 2 meg.
To upgrade from the mono into stereo is possible but you'll have to find someone who has the necessary IC's, PAL's and you'll have to buy an upgrade code from EPR electronics. It would be very expensive to upgrade. But if you do have the IC25 with the 457A you'll need to search for the stereo audioboard. Most likely your chip on the mainboard is still programmed for the stereo edition. Primary and secondary channel.
For the external scsi I would like to point out that the external ZIP drive should be found on SCSI ID 5/6 with termination on (with one way scsi cable). Disconnect HD and HD scsi cable. Check if your external scsi cable isn't inte rnal broken. If still can't find Scsi peripherals your scsi chip needs to be removed and the legs cleaned and reseated. Careful!!! No powercord should be connected to your Emax II if you do si! If that's not working most likely you'll need to replace the scsi chip (IC7) for a new one.
Good luck!
Frank

That´s why its weird, a serail 2212, is supposed to be 2meg and stereo, mine is 2meg but totally mono... Either the seller swapped the cards either e-mu sold weird config in the past... My scdi cable works perfectly with other machines like Roland S-760, etc so its not a cablr issue. I think the scsi chip is dead Envoyé de mon iPhone

Maybe the problem with the pheriperals could be as easy as a faulty scsi cable...Be sure to use the correct external scsi cable otherwise it won't work or there is a possibilty you will damage the scsi onboard chip. (Seen that on Inet). > > To help you a little way: All pins of disconnected scsi cable on each end must be iddentical. So pin 1 is pin 1, pin 2 is pin 2 etc. untill last pin. Check with a voltage measurement tool if all pins do make contact. > > I know that the stereo programmed PAL chip is very very difficult to find. But not impossible. > > Best regards, > Frank > >
