emax hd zip upgrade: wrong software error?

2003-06-30 by a7634

I recently installed the zip upgrade, am I correct, on an emax hd
model, you only need to replace the cable leading to the harddrive to
a nexternal zip drive using a connector (only one cable actually has
to be altered, right?) and install the emax plus os, however the emax
software I b ought from emulator archive gives me the "wrong
software" error. I doubt it could be their fault, but I've triple
checked my work now and have done nothing wrong...
any help would be fabulous

Hi,
Details of the upgrade are here:

http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Samplers/EmaxOverview/EmaxSCSI/emaxscsi.html

Check you have the right motherboard, PAL chip, Boot ROM and SCSI chip.

It may be that the Plus OS software is built on the SE code base, in which
case you may need an SE model to start with. However the E-mu Systems
upgrade documentation is not specific about HD or HD SE. "wrong software" is
the error messge from a non-SE Emax when booting from SE software.

You cannot use a zip drive on an Emax HD,it is very specific,it will
only recognize a 20mb seagate hard drive. If you want to use removable
media for storage, you will have to get an EmaxII.

Hi,
The Emax DOES work with 100MB SCSI ZIP drives. It formats them to 20MB (and
very quickly). The issue is that the SE OS version is needed as a pre-req to
using Emax OS Plus (which supports multiple SCSI ID's). Plus is an OS
extension to SE.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
