just wanted to add this.

was thinking and maybe the program never worked because i used it in
the dos shell window?

and the machine i have is the se model w/o the hd, how hard is it to
add a hd to the machine. or is it just not worth it these days
expacally since i use a laptop a ableton live already.

i also think my disk drive is going bad, are they had to replace? what
kind is needed?
and while i'm on disk what kind is the proper kind to use? SD or DD.

so to be so full of questions but i just pulled this machine out of
moth ball and was mainly using it as a controller but like the sounds
it had in it and some really fit into what i'm doing currently.
i'm also going through the archives so please dont think i'm one of
those people who ask ask ask and never look.

Welcome to the group Scotto,
the disks to use are double sided double density,
they are harder to find now days since not many people need them.
There is a slew of purchasing suggestions in the message archive here.
In reference to the program your using to transfer sounds im assuming
your using the emx program that can be found in the files section of the
group?
it will run in windows but you will find that the disks it makes will be
unusable
run it in dos only.
check out the emulator archive and the emax II home page from the owner
of this group for info on disk drives..
