emax I interest?

emax I interest?

2003-10-23 by Ben Model

I have an emax HD and an emax I keyboard (with a brand-new floppy drive),
and am thinking of selling off the keyboard, as I don't need both.

I see many posts about the emaxII and the emaxSE...and wanted to know if
this is because no one uses the emax I's anymore. Just wanted to see if
it's worthwhile listing the instrument on eBay [or here]. Thx.

Ben

Their are only 2 basic forms for the Emax.

The Emax (aka Emax 1) which comes in Emax, Emax SE, Emax HD, Emax SE HD, and
Emax Plus forms (plus their rack equivalents). They share the same design and basic
functionality (12 bit, analog filters, grey). The main differences are the operating
systems and hardware which added things like SCSI and Spectrum Interpolation
synthesis.

Then there is the Emax II and Emax II Turbo (and their racks). Except for the rare Mono
models they are pretty much all identical and the only difference is the size of the
internal hard drive and the amount of memory they have. They are all 16 bit and have
digital filters.

The Emax 1 is still desirable to some people, especially in the hip-hop scene. For most
of them it is a cheap alternative to the SP-1200 drum machine. They go on ebay for
between $150-300 US depending on which model (HD SE models with working hard
drives are the most desirable) and what kinf of library comes with it.
