Emax

Could any one post a step by step for proper use of the EMX utility?

Create a directory on your computer's hard drive called EMX.

Download EMX and extract it to that directory.

Download the sound bank(s) you want and extract them to the same 
directory.

Using your Emax II format as many DS/DD floppy disks as you will need,
keeping in mind each EMX file needs it's own floppy. 

Boot into DOS 6.2 or earlier

Launch EMX from the directory you unzipped it in.

Choose option [W] "Write an Emax disk bank"

Tell EMX your floppy drives letter (normally it would be A)

Tell EMX the exact name of the file to write to the DS/DD floppy (example: 
tr808.emx or taylord1.em2) When you see multiple files with the same name 
but numbered this means it's a multiple disk set and must be loaded in 
your Emax II in order.

EMX will now write the file to the floppy once done you will need to 
repeat the [W] process for each disk in the set.

Common Problems:

You must use a DS/DD floppy. EMX can not write to a HD (High Density) floppy disk. 
Even though the Emax II can "force format" a HD floppy this is not recommended and 
the results aren't always reliable. You may be able to write bank data from a DOS box or 
rebooting into DOS on a Windows 9.x machine, but it will not format. All sound bank files 
must be in the directory that EMX is.
