I've tried to format using the EMX progrom in a DOS box within Win 
98 SE but can't seem to complete due to sector read errors at about 
99%.  I'm not certain if this has to do with running a DOS box 
within windows or if it's due to not having a formatted disk from 
the Emax II itself.  I am trying your suggestion this evening to 
isolate my problem, but please feel free to send any information on 
replacement 3.5" disk drives for a mono EMAX II.

It definitely can not format in a DOS BOX. You get the exact error we all do to do 
Windows not allowing EMX access to the sectors it needs.

i created disks with high density 3.5" floppy do you have an hard disk inside your emax?
