raw analog waveforms

raw analog waveforms

2005-06-01 by goldenechos

Hello, does anybody have any disk, or know of any disk, that load
looped, multisampled, basic analog waveforms for the EMAX. Sine,
Square, Triangle, Pulse. I would like to program basic synth sounds
(ie. Roland JUNO) with the EMAX.

Seems like you could get some real nice sounds with the emax having
more than enough memory to load a dense multi-sample set of analog
waveforms.

You knowI have done this, sampling waveforms into the emax. It is very quick to make a multisampled sound in the emax, it really flows like butter, I say find some samples on the net and sample them in. You'll be surprised how quick and easy it is.

Yeh, it is easy no doubt, but I have no analog synth right now... I
suppose samples will have to do!

Dumb question ..

If you sample the same synth(i.e. Juno 106) to emax and the 2, would
the emax sound better due to the analog filter?

Well, "better" is just an opinion cuz, how do you define "better" when it comes to sound? I have both machines. If you want it to sound thicker and dirtier, then I would suggest the Emax 1, if you want it to sound cleaner, I would suggest the Emax 2.

Re: [emax] Re: raw analog waveforms

2005-06-01 by John Silveria

Well considering that's exactly what I did/do (sample my Juno 106) I can say the Emax is
much better at creating spunds similar to the Juno 106, the Emax II sounds more like a
recording of the Juno which has it's place as well.

I guess better was the wrong word, What I meant was If I had song
that used the Juno, and I wanted to sample it to use the Juno for
something else, which one would give me a closer sound to the Juno,
and it sound like the Emax I would be it.

thanks.

Re: raw analog waveforms

2005-06-02 by goldenechos

If you want to program the sound on the emax then yes... if you just
want to sample a stab, hit, lead tone (with juno filter and mod
settings in tact) I would go with the emax II as it has more sample
time available and you could get a more detailed/ complex multi-
sample of the sound. With the Emax though, you could multi-sample the
basic waveform, and then apply filter and mod setting 9on the emax)
to achieve a similar sound (I know the juno filter sounds different,
that is why i said "similar").

Make sense?
