floppy jumpers

2006-05-21 by Bob Conner

Well I couldn't find any info.

Has anybody tried search the group posts?

Chances are if you got a DS DD drive from somewhere
(old computer or other device) it would work.

As far as jumpering, there can't be too many
combinations to try. It's either going to read or it's
not.

Bob

You probably already know the meaning of the jumpers on the TEAC FD
235 HF floppy drive and are just searching for the specific EMAX
settings. I don't know if I have a TEAC drive in one of my EMAX
samplers - I'll check it out.

Anyway, here is the meaning of the different jumpers on that drive. I
found it on some AKAI MPC forum:

A1 - B1 DS0 Drive select 0
B1 - C1 DS1 Drive select 1
A2 - B2 DS2 Drive select 2
B2 - C2 DS3 Drive select 3
C3 - D3 REN disable auto-recalibration
D3 - E3 ACD(a) disable auto-checking
E3 - F3 ACD(b) disable auto-checking
D2 - E2 RY34 Ready output on Pin 34
E1 - E2 DC34 Disk Change output on Pin 34
E1 - F1 DC2 Disk Change output on Pin 2
G1 - G2 HA density set automatically
F1 - G1 HI2 density set by HD IN on pin 2
F1 - F2 HO2 density (HD OUT) output on pin 2
F3 - G3 IR LED on when: (Drive Select AND Ready)

FYI: the following are the settings for the AKAI MP60 :-):
-> SET jumper DS0, HI2, RY34, ACD(b), and FG
-> But these settings are NOT for EMAX.

If I have a TEAC drive in one of my EMAX, I'll post the jumper
settings.

OK so I checked my samplers and only one of them has a TEAC drive.
Unfortunately it's an FD-235-HF-5429, not an A-series.
Mine has only two jumpers :-)

Anyway here's some more information on all these drives.
http://www.teac.com/DSPD/pdf/3fd0020a.pdf

I hope someone on this group is willing to post the jumpersettings
for EMAX.

Re: [emax] Re: floppy jumpers

2006-05-21 by ted Summers

Unfortunately, both emax's I have had Mitsubishi drives.

From what I gather though, the following is true:

A1-B1 Jumpered
G1-G2 Jumpered (always make sure your DS/HD disks have the hole
covered so they act like 720k disks!)

Not sure about F3-G3, but try it off first.

The rest UNJUMPERED. The reason I say this is, I bought a standard
floppy drive (black- do not remember if it was teac, sony or mitsumi)
from newegg. I soldered the Surface mount jumper from ds1 to ds0.
Tested and it worked with no problems. Then I made a bracket so there
is no gaping hole in the front of my emax.

That is all I had to do to get a new working floppy in my emax
(though making the bracket took a while)....

Thanks,
Ted

Help for OS disk

2006-05-28 by SG

Hi to everybody,

is there anyone who could ship to me a floppy disk (I live in Italy)
with the Emax OS 3.2 system?
I tried to ask at emulator archive so I sent some e-mail but I didn't
receive answer.

Thanks in advance for your kindness.

greetings

Simone

Re: [emax] Help for OS disk

ovviamente tutte a mio carico);

ti ringrazio in anticipo per la cortesia

Ciao
Simone
