Emax II power supply issue

Emax II power supply issue

2007-01-16 by scart@...

Hey everyone,

I have an 1mb Emax II keyboard that no longer powers on. When I switch on the power button, the Emax
II itself emits a clicking sound (not through the speakers). The front panel lights flicker on and off with
this clicking. I have opened up the Emax II itself and I do notice a few very slightly bulgy capacitors than
others but, it's hard to tell whether they are the cause of the issue or not (as I was told this is a common
issue with Emax II power supplies). If anyone has any advice on whether they know the possible cause of
the issue, or if there is somewhere I can get a replacement power supply or some type of schematics for
the Emax II power supply, I would greatly appreciate it.

If the top of the capacitors are not flat and are rounded upwards, or
it looks like there is some brownish gunk at the bottom on the board
(that is not obviously some type of glue tacking them in place), then
the caps are bad or going bad. Start there....

Thanks,
Ted
