New EMXP version

New EMXP version

2007-01-07 by esynthesist

Hi all

The new version of EMXP has been released.
As always it's a beta-edition, because the testing cycle was too
short to call the software 100% mature and reliable.
It's up to you guys (girls) to do further testing...

Some of the new features in v2.00 (besides bugfixing...):
- Conversion from Emax I/Emax II to Akai S1000 (caution: not the
other way around yet)
- Read/write/format Akai S1000 floppy disks
- Automatic sample rate conversion, e.g. any 16-bit mono/stereo WAV
can be translated to Emax now
- All Emax removable harddisks and CD-ROMs should be supported now,
well, at least in READ-mode. Of course Emax ZIP disks are also still
supported.
- Conversion between Akai S1000 samples and WAV
- An easier way to select multiple items at once in any EMXP window
(called the "M"ark function)

The software can be found in the files section:
  http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/emax/files/EMXP/

or on the EMXP homepage:
  http://users.skynet.be/emxp/

OK I admit this one is a little bit focussed on Akai S1000.
Not that I really love that sampler, but it's an industry-standard
sampler so I thought it would be a good idea to support conversion
from Emax to Akai (and later also the other way).
This could be a bridge between the Emax format and any other sampler,
since other (commercial) translators will at least always support
Akai S1000 :-)

But don't worry, in the future the focus will be vintage EMU again.
E.g I'd love to be able to load *any* sample into my Emulator II+, so
I'm working on that...
And I also want to convert the samples on my EIII CDs to WAV, so this
feature will also be added in the near future.
For EMAX samplers I will try to add the ability to create EMAX CD ISO
images from scratch. This should also work for ZIP-disks of course.
We'll see...

Have fun & let the Emax live forever

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
