problems downloading emaxos/plus program to pc under dos

2007-02-08 by asrvegas

Hi,
Im trying to download the plus os to upgrade the base emaxHD to use
with scsi. ( i think i can after opening it up)
ive downloaded program here's what happens:
I select the write to disk command (under dos)
it asks for DOS filename which i enter emaxos.emx
it then reads 'address mark not found hit any key to continue' and
then it just goes back to main menu.
what am i doing wrong?
i have tried both the (w) command and the (p) command
i have also selected the (a) drive which i think is the floppy drive.
help im not familiar with DOS.

Just to be sure: are you running EMX in native DOS ?
(not a DOS window in Windows, but a PC booted in DOS)
The floppy drive is an internal one ?

If you have a WinXP machine you basically have two options:

1/ Start the PC with a "bootable MS-DOS floppy disk" in your floppy
drive. You can create this floppy disk with one of many available
freeware on the internet, or by using the boot622.exe or boot500.exe
programs in the files section. Your PC will boot in DOS mode. You'll
have to know a litte bit of DOS to go on from that point (like "c:"
to go to harddisk, "cd <folder>" to go to the <folder> where EMX
resides, "emx" to start emx, ...)

2/ You can use EMXP in Windows XP. See files section or links
section. Follow the installation instructions described in the
included manual to install the Emax-enabled floppy driver BEFORE
using EMXPN.

In both cases: you'll need an internal floppy drive. USB drives won't
work !!

???
I assume you performed the unrequired additional license procedure
(described on page 17 of the manual). That one is not required...
Or did you receive this message during basic registration just after
you selected the "EMXP/EMXPN" software from the list in OmniFlop ?
In that case, I'll contact Sherlock Consulting...maybe no
registration is required anymore. Does EMXP support floppies now ?
(if not, you'll get an error in EMXP).

PS: for further support, you can e-mail me.
