Hey dudes, Using newest version of the program tried a bunch of floppies today and it seems like there is something going wrong I am writing Images / Banks to emax formatte floppies, also formatted some using the tool but whatever i do it results in Disk Error on the Emax. I use "brand new" floppies and when i format them on the emax or copy a disk they work fine, only when writing to them from EMXP i get errors I am using the emax floppy driver, and yes i made sure the correct driver is installed, its version 0.90 in device manager. no idea what it is I also made sure i set the target format to EMAX I. cant think of any more, spent 3 hours trying to figure this one, somone help please?

Are the disks you are using DS/HD. Emax uses DS/DD- so you cover the hole (not the write protect, the other one) and this makes the disk not be HD anymore.... 720k instead of 1.44MB Just a thought, Ted On Feb 12, 2007, at 5:16 PM, dawid_marciniak wrote: > Hey dudes, > > Using newest version of the program tried a bunch of floppies today > and it seems like there is something going wrong > > I am writing Images / Banks to emax formatte floppies, also formatted > some using the tool but whatever i do it results in Disk Error on the > Emax. Could be that your Emax FD is out of alignment and so it can read disks written by itself, but isn't calibrated properly so it can't read disks written by other floppy drives. Just another thought... Would a new floppy drive be dis alligned? How can i fix this Regards, Dawid --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "Dave Sotnick" <sotnickd@...> wrote:

Hey GUYS I have noticed that When i load up Other floppies from All sorts of other sources my EMAX I reads them fine. I tried my old emax which i created years ago, Original Emax Sample disks, all work fine, Only when i try to write it from EMXP it gives me that error/./. Could it be the floppydrive in my PC??? Its brand new Sony i picked up of amazon. Maybe try the Omni Driver? Maybe different floppy?

Two possible causes: 1/ Important calibration differences. This could either be caused by the drive in the Emax or by the drive in the PC. In your case most probably the one in your PC. 2/ You should use the OmniFlop driver. The Emxp Emax driver is too simple to be 100% reliable really... it's just a kind of emergency driver if for some reason you really don't want to use OmniFlop. The Emxp Emax driver uses exactly the same disk parameters as the old EMX does, but the OmniFlop driver uses other parameters which are more correct. In fact, there's even a small incompatibility between the FORMAT parameters used by EMXP (with both drivers) and the READ/WRITE parameters used specifically in the Emxp driver. So relying on that driver can cause problems as soon as there are small calibration problems with the drive. I know, because I have had problems myself :-) Maybe I will change the Emxp driver in the next version of EMXP, but most probably I will simply not include it anymore, and remove any reference to it from the manual. Everyone should use OmniFlop ! Perhaps in the future I will also include support for even another (free) driver available out there. That driver might be helpful for those people who keep having problems with formatting disks in EMXP, because I think it allows a high degree of parametrisation. We'll see. It's definitely not my first priority. Anyway: my advice is to try the OmniFlop driver first. If that doesn't work, you should have a look to your PC floppy drive, since up to now no one seems to have had R/W problems with the OmniFlop driver. By the way: can EMXP READ those "good" disks ? ///E-Synthesist --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "dawid_marciniak" <dawid.marciniak@...> wrote:

///E-Synthesist THANK YOU SOO MUCH. When i saw the menu of EMXPi was going crazy, All these options, I created a report with wavs and i was asking myself how that is possible!! I had 12bit 28.xx khz files on my drive all of a sudden. Its AMAZING< the program is great i love the menu too I was soo frustrated to find out that its not accepting the didks i wrote, I will swap the driver in the morning before work!!! hope that will make it work Have you used EMXP with SCSI card readers and Compact Flash ?? That would be bananas!! I am thinking of getting another EMAX I rack, and maybe a EMAX 2 !! Hyped up Thanks for all your hard work ! --- In emax@...m, "esynthesist" <esynthesist@...> wrote:

Nice to hear that you like it. About Compact Flash: I've not tested it, but I tried to make the I/O logic of EMXP as generic as possible. So my guess is that it should work (both read & write). Maybe someone else on this board can confirm this ? ///E-Synthesist --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "dawid_marciniak" <dawid.marciniak@...> wrote: > > ///E-Synthesist > > THANK YOU SOO MUCH. > > When i saw the menu of EMXPi was going crazy, All these options, I > created a report with wavs and i was asking myself how that is > possible!! \Yes lovin it, Im actually tring to get this to work now, No Luck Again!??>:( Now with the omnifloppy driver installed, yes it says james watson in driver info. Also done the additional registration as suggested by manual/ Tried 3 different types of DD floppies to make sure its not the floppy that i am using. Formatted the disk using EMXP, Copied OS and tried to boot from disk. With all 3 it resulted in Timeout Error! - Disk Error! Any ideas? My floppy drive is a Teac from Studio66 (recent buy) and the PC floppy is a sony from amazon, standard drive I can read all kinds of floppys on the emax, even created on older devices with original mitsubishi disk drive... Really keen on Compact Flash, this is upsetting! nice program but cant make use of it at all Thx for help --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "esynthesist" <esynthesist@...> wrote:

Mmm... I don't think I can help you further here. Probably a calibration problem. You can try another PC of course (from a friend or so) in order to detect whether it is the PC drive or the Emax drive. FYI: as soon as EMXP starts reading/writing a floppy, this means the driver has been installed correctly. If not EMXP would generate an error. So you can assume that the driver is installed correctly. I hope you'll find the problem... ///E-Synthesist --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "dawid_marciniak" <dawid.marciniak@...> wrote: > > \Yes lovin it, Im actually tring to get this to work now, > > No Luck Again!??>:( > > Now with the omnifloppy driver installed, yes it says james watson in > driver info.
