channel. My samples are stereo, up until i enter digiatal processing. As soon as i choose the voice and go into the digital menu, I only get one chanel, what the hell is with that. If I go into the digital filters its stereo, I am running 2.14 stereo. Noided right now. Thank you for your help joebear

Hi Joe, I think the problem is that the Emax 2 OS is based on the Emax OS which only worked with mono samples. To get stereo playback in the Emax 2 you assign a zone to stereo mode, which uses the primary and seconday voices to trigger together as left and right sides of the stereo sample. That allows you to process the stereo zone with the same parameters for left and right in dynamic processing etc but in digital processing they are still treated as separate samples. Its a little cumbersome for sample editing but there is nothing that can be done as the OS is no longer updated. You could always try dumping the samples out via MIDI, edit them on your computer in stereo then dump them back into the Emax 2. /Tristan joechatman1122 writes:

Ok that is kinda what I thought, the samples come in stereo, but go out mono. that is the jankiest OS ever written in the world, you have got to be kidding me. Hmm what are you using to edit samples? PC compatible? something out of digidesign right, the most impossible program to find in the world. Triston thank you so much for your help, I am going to bed now that I have an explanation that makes since in a world where A D D and technology rule. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "Tristan Upton" <tu@...> wrote: > > Hi Joe, > > I think the problem is that the Emax 2 OS is based on the Emax OS which only > worked with mono samples. Hi Joe, Back in the late 80s the Emax OS was actually not bad compared to some of the competition. I believe the Emax 2 was rushed out to compete with the Akai S1000 when 16 bit stereo sampling was the feature they needed to match. But I don't think Emu put much thought into improving the user interface. I don't use any external sample editing with the Emax 2 but it is possible via MIDI or RS422 if you have the MAC and software. You can also use various software on the PC that supports MIDI sample dump. If you are wanting to do a lot of stereo sampling and editing you should consider picking up one of the Emu Esi series. They work much better for stereo sample editing and are dirt cheap these days. Regards, Tristan joechatman1122 writes:
