Emax

When I boot my newly aquired emax SE HD it immediatly goes into 
Diagnostics mode witht he bottom two lights lit. Has anyone had this 
occur to them also? Neither the hard drive or the floppy appears to 
spin up before the system locks up.

The floppy isn't working right. This will happen if a PC floppy is  
hooked up (I know this is a possible cause for sure - Drive select is  
set to 1 not 0) or a bad floppy drive.

If this is the case and the HD is good you should be able to disconnect 
the floppy and use the jumper cheat to make it boot by thinking it sees 
a functional floppy.

Hi Ted, 
 Do you have any ideas about that error message I spoke of? I have an EMAX II with o/s 2.14     When ever I try to format a floppy, format a SCSI drive or run BIRD RUN it flashes - "DIFFERENT SOFTWARE REV!"     Thanks!

I only have an Emax 1, but I know about the lights because I have  
been working on addind Compact Flash in conjunction with a Laptop  
Floppy drive. I had it working, then I did something to make it not  
work again, so I am trying to figure out what I changed.... doh!

When the floppy works as a regular PC floppy, you get the two lights.  
when you have a emax compatible floppy hooked up, you get only the  
one light that is expected.

I have removed both drive connections and when I boot the emax it 
still prompts Diagnostic mode immediatley at boot time. Does anyone 
have any advice on what might be causing this? My emax is a emax se hd.
