EMAX II banks?

EMAX II banks?

2008-12-04 by lavenderlists

hi all -

i'm a former employee of sweetwater sound, and i had free access to
all of their EMAX II banks for several years, resulting in several
hundred banks of EMAX II sounds on zip disks. i recently used
e-synthesist's *AMAZING* EMXP application to copy all these banks to
my hard drive, and would like to share them with the community if
there is any interest.

is anyone interested in this stuff? are there any rarities or
corrupted banks that people are looking for? and is the 'Files'
directory in this group the best place for uploading them?

cheers -

j

Wow, this would be awesome !!!
But you'll have to find some other host to upload the images, the
files section of Yahoo is way too small to upload hundreds of banks.
Maybe some free fileserver ?

Would these banks come out ok for Emax I also?

Free fileservers- zshare.net, zippy, rapidshare. There are many :-)

I could set up an FTP server on my home internet account.
It wouldn't be the fastest, but it would be there.
Might take a month or so to get it going due to family emergancies this month.

How many MB or GB are we talking about?

I think I have about 5 to 7GB to spare on the currently off line server.

I have plenty of space on my server (which is in a data center), if
that's the issue. 100Mb connectivity and available right away.

Re: EMAX II banks?

2008-12-05 by lavenderlists

it sounds like that may be a good solution, then.

louis, please email me directly with the upload info, and i'll start getting them online over
the next few days. after everything is ready, then we'll post to the list with the download
info.

after separating the wheat from the chaff, i think we're probably looking at about 100
banks (~100 mb). sorry if that's disappointing, but on closer inspection, i see that a
bunch of them are banks from old songs that we wrote, and not pure sound sources like
most of you probably want.

finally, i just want to give MAJOR THANKS to e-synthesist. i've been away from the emax
scene for the last 15 years, and i'm stunned to come back and find that someone has
written a free sampler utility like this. the application worked flawlessly, the
documentation is great, and i just wish that he had a proper paypal donation link on his
site. what an amazingly valuable tool he has given to the world! imho, the antique
sampler community owes him a HUGE debt of gratitude for his labor of love.
thanks e-synthesist - - "you da man"!

Sounds good. That guy has a better setup than me.

When I get around to putting my server back online I can host the files too, as a backup.

I have something like 100gb of space on my server that the Emax and Emax
II User's Group is based from. I could put them there. I think it makes
some sense to have them located at the site that often drives people here.

That would indeed make more sense than putting them on my server...

We've won the lottery, this is too good to believe ^_^

It's like one of those Nigerian scams that claim a beneficiary of
$xxmillion is looking for a bank account to deposit in.
But I doubt that from our beloved community ;-)

Cheeers.

We've got them all uploaded to my site and he's confirmed he can
distribute them so I just need to whip up the html pages and add them.

Ok all,

I put the 4 Zip files provided to me up on my site.

http://www.silveriafamily.com/emax/emax2_downloads.html

Altogether it's about 255Mb (I think) worth of banks all in EMXP format.
Don't have a listing as to what they are, but the names are pretty
self-explanatory for most of them.

Hello John, Although I've played my EMaxII for years, I'm not
familiar with loading new banks other than from the floppy - are
there any instuctions anywhere on how to use the EMXP formatted files
please?
Thanks, Phil.

Hi Phil,
download and unzip theses files. Where EMXP has been created on your
PC, put these files ( images ) into image folder and start EMXP. You
can now see them into image banks and manage them. To load floppies
you just convert images banks in EMX banks and then load what you need
on floppies or hard drive. Just follow instructions, it's really
simple and well made. Cheers
Pascal

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
