Hi Everybody and Happy Holidays!

Hi Everybody and Happy Holidays!

2008-12-26 by ss

I'm just now on the list! It's great to be in the loop here.

I'm trying to resurrect my Emax HD SE. All of the floppies and
Syquest backup of the drive were destroyed in a move.
My entire factory library is gone. I had initialized the internal
drive for a project. So everything is gone and I'm trying to recover
it somehow.
In my experience the Emax HD SE is just a unique instrument like the
Fairlight CMI, you know? You can use something else, but
I want to get my Emax back. I feel lucky I still have it and that
it's in perfect shape.

Emu Systems? I thought their might be a guru still there that could
point me in the right direction, but everybody I knew
at EMU have long since gone. No return phone calls...

I used to use Alchemy (Blank and Passport versions...). I think I can
recover them and keep an old PowerPC devoted just
to the Emax and Alchemy in my studio. I still have a couple of
Alchemy samples left from my old library, and also from
Digidesign SoftSynth programming.

I used to transfer samples back and forth via MIDI to the Emax and an
EIII via Alchemy.

I'm now using Peak Pro, but have not yet had the time to try to hook
it up to the Emax or see if it will even work.

Does anybody have any tips, pointers, links, or advice for me? I see
that there were some resources on the web
at one time and now the sites are gone or the links are broken.

Also, I'm trying to get the Emulator II library to convert for use
with the Emax, and perhaps Drumulator samples, too.

Any correspondence would be greatly appreciated. I have a huge amount
of knowledge and am willing to share it,
so if you respond please ask how I can help you and I'll tell you if I
can or if I have the resources to do so. You might
be surprised.

I look forward to hearing from anybody regardless. :-)

The very best to you all and happy holidays!

Steven

PS - I would recommend using Melodyne Studio to anybody who is
serious about sampling and working with sound.

Hi Steven,
go to users.skynet.be/EMXP and download EMXP software with Omniflop
software. You can now with a PC download, convert and exchange all
sounds created for Emax 1 and 2. You can find sounds here ( files )
and download many factory soundbanks from hermannseib.com. John
Silveria has recently added on his website a full soundbank for Emax
2. You can convert many of them to Emax with EMXP. Good luck. We have
a sunny Christmas in Paris. Happy holidays to you.
Pascal
