Where am I going wrong? Can't get my midi keyboard to control my Emax II rack

2008-12-20 by bty54193247

Hello all,

Well, I've just rebuilt my Emax II rack, I've now got a working floppy drive, working LCD, and
I've touched up the paintwork....so she is looking spot on......the only thing is....

1) I can't get my Emax II rack, and my Novation SL25 keyboard to talk to each other...I've got
samples loaded, but can't hear them when I play the keyboard......what could be wrong?

2) When I look for my external HD, my Emax keeps scanning the SCSI ports, but is unable to
see my external drive on SCSI port 6.......any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays !!!!

All the best

Dave

I would start by using the MIDI Monitor built in to the Emax to verify
it is receiving MIDI Signal. You can also trigger the samples from the
numberpad (or is that the ESi-32 I am thinking of). If it is indeed
receiving MIDI Signal, next verify if the samples are assigned to only
be going out the sub-outputs. Or even try assigning some to subs to make
sure you don't have a bad amp, jack or soundboard.

More than likely this is a termination issue. The Emax II likes to have
the end of the SCSI Chain terminated. On my EZ-135 drive this means I
have to plug a terminator onto the open SCSI port. Are you sure you are
using a Emax II compatible drive? The Emax II is notoriously picky with
what kind of drive it will use.
