how to determine the OS version of my newly bought Emax?

how to determine the OS version of my newly bought Emax?

2009-02-20 by bermudaben2006

Hi there,
I bought an Emax on Ebay and I am not sure if any of the previous
owners upgraded it to SE OS.
The guy who sold it to me included a few diskettes, some of them
labelled with "SE 1.1", some of them with "OS 3.2". When I insert the
ones labelled with "SE 1.1" and check the OS in the Master Module it
says "SE 1.1". When I insert the other ones it says "3.2".
Now, this is not surprising, since the OS is on the diskette. But does
this mean I have SE 1.1 installed on my Emax? What if someone just
copied SE 1.1 on these diskettes, without upgrading the Emax? Would
Emax accept these diskettes or would it display an error message?
One more thing I don't understand: If the Emax OS is only on the
diskette, why do you need a special diskette to upgrade it? It would
seem logical to just put the new OS on a diskette and load it.
Thanks for your help,
Ben

My understanding is that if the Emax is not SE, the SE OS will not boot the
unit.

Ted

Once SE is installed you can run both 1.1 OS and 3.2 OS depending on your needs, If SE has not been installed 1.1 OS will not load at all.

Just a note any one wanting to upgrade to SE I now have the full SE update kits available at www.Route66studios.com
