problems with EMXP and Omniflop formatted disks

problems with EMXP and Omniflop formatted disks

2009-07-03 by augustoacuna

Hi there, I recently bought an Emax 1 HD Se. I installed the omniflop disk driver 2.01p, formatted an old new floppy. Then when I try to copy an emx image to the floppy, the drive makes some noises and then a windows error dialog appears saying Unknown disk format blah blah blah ( Cancel, Try Again, Continue). The Emxp returns Errocode 89.

I formatted the disk using Emax 800kb format and Emax 1024 byte 800kb format. Am I doing something wrong????

Same error occurs trying to format the disk with emxp.

Hi

Just to make sure the problem is clear:
- I assume that you are using an internal PC floppy drive ? (external ones don't work)
- I assume that you are using DSDD disks, not HD ones ? If you are using HD ones, make sure you tape the second "hole"...
- When do you get the 89 error in EMXP: while formatting or while writing EMX images ?
- Does the PC software (OmniFlop, EMXP) work with disks formatted by your Emax ?
- Copying EMX images to an Emax formatted disk can only be done with EMX or EMXP. Copying these files with a common Windows tool like Windows Explorer will not work --> you will get a "unformatted/unknown disk". Installing OmniFlop driver does not mean that any Windows application can start using these Emax disks...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
