Regarding "PUNCH" in a sample, I was going through my library and  
noticing that a good number
of the power drum hits I have in one collection were not really drums  
at all but simply a single
piano note drenched with reverb and then processed into a massive kick  
or whatever!  :-)  I have
that piano note!  It's just rich with harmonic content so that when  
it's processed correctly -- BOOM!

Anybody else using these same tricks?  :-)
