EMAX os disk from rout 66

EMAX os disk from rout 66

2009-08-20 by babyd_lhp

I have an Emax "retro" HD
The floppies i received with it are corrupt. they load the os and it works for sampling but it always gives an error at the end (when i try to save to floppy. iv'e tried trouble shooting with help from the group here but have come to the conclusion that i should just buy a new OS disk as i don't have a pc with the proper set up to burn one my self.
So My question is which one to buy ?

Emu EMAX OS 3.2 on 3.5" Floppy.

Emu EMAX SE/HD OS v1.1 on 3.5" Floppy.

Emu EMAX HD OS v1.1 on 3.5" Floppy..... ?

After you load the OS, can't you just format and save to a different floppy disk?
There are functions in the Emax to create new/copy OS to a new disk.

If your going to buy a disk, I would buy the emax SE HD OS

What is an

Emax "retro" HD

perhaps a model number and a more specific official name for the model
would help us identify which OS is right for you.

Emax
Emax SE
Emax HD
Emax SE HD

See my sister site to this lise http://www.silveriafamily.com/emax to
help identify what you have.

You say you have an HD model, but you go on to say you are trying to
save to Floppy. If it is booting up and operating all the time except
when you save this is more than likely the sign of a hardware failure
not a corrupt OS. Are you booting from HD? What OS is currently on the
HD? Are you booting from floppy, with which OS?

If your Emax is not SE, you should get HD OS 1.1.
If your Emax is SE, you should get Plus OS 1.0 as that supports external
/multiple drives.

Look in your menu booted from the disk you have to see if it is SE.

If it is not SE, and you can't make the disk yourself, you might want to get
the SE update disk too and update to SE.

Ted

John
Thank you very much for your quick response.
Its an emax with a sticker on top that says "Retro HD".
The guy who sold it to me told me that "there is an HD inside but it doesn't work"
I havn't been able to get it to boot form the HD but have been able to get it to boot from the floppy he gave me. the floppy is just a copy. i believe it just says emax OS 1.1 on it (written in ball point pen).
I can copy that floppy but i get and error at the end of copying it.I can boot from the copied version, I bought the double sided floppys at radio shack and taped off the hole but still cannot save to floppy.
I think that i'd just rather be able to save to floppy than work on figuring out how to get the HD working for now.

from searching online i have found no info about An EMAX HD retrograde wich is what i believe i have. the sticker matches the color and look of the Emax and could easily be over looked as being a sticker.

I plan on ordering an OS today. any suggesting would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
d

ps: i can post soem close up shots of the sticker if you'd like to see it.

looking at teh sticker indicates that you have a model Emax retrofitted
with the HD option, but before the SE OS. Suggest you also get an SE
Upgrade disk and upgrade it to a SE HD model then use the Plus OS and
talk to other members about the options you have like extending your
internal SCSI Connector to allow for a CF reader, or an external Zip
drive. You will find your Emax experience greatly enhanced by having an
active HD device.
