I have tried 2 different SCSI CD-Readers in my external housing for my EMAX II and none of them will read my CD's. So.. if anyone out there is selling a 100% compatible SCSI CD reader im willing to buy it, or... if anyone is selling those CF SCSI card things I want one of those to.

see ted if he has any scsi to atapi cards left they work with zip and any atapi device you could then get a 650 optical drive they go for cheap on ebay and the disks are cheap aswell if not then you will have to buy a scsi to ide adapter either iodata scs1/2 or a acard 7720 u and a cfcard drive from addonics or any other manufacturer that support the 3.5" floppy drive bay and have a slim floppy converter from ted they work great and you can pick up a floppy for next to nothing

http://www.yestermac.com/cf.html Will this CF card reader work in my EMAX II? I really dont care about fiting it to the 2,5 slot and so on. Once I have my samples loaded to the CF card it will most likely just sit there. So my plan is to remove my HD and replace with a SCSI CF Card reader. Regarding the CD reader, I just need a scsi cd reader confirmed to work for my external housing.

http://www.ultradrives.com/images/ADAPTER%20IDE%20TO%20SCSI.JPG Is this such a card you are talking about? So with this card I can simply use a IDE drive internally instead of a SCSI? =)That would be nice since the IDE's makes way less noise than my airplane SCSI HD =P

I found that reader on ebay too. The seller says it's absolutely not hot-swappable... but if you just want an internal drive, could be good to try. no guarantee it'll work with random hardware, but the fact that it's designed for old macs makes it sound like there's a pretty good chance. drifter7508 wrote:

you need that card and a cf 3.5" drive adapter addonics do a nice 1 or apro do one with either a pcmcia slot or cf slot with the pcmcia slot they are atapi compliant so are hot swoppable you can fit the internal 50 pin scsi cable to the 50 pin of the scsi to ide adapter card for it to work it needs to be set to scsi1 operation and you need to set it to pio mode as dma cf cards are to fast you need type1/2 cfcards i use 512mb for the emax 2 you can use bigger but it only formats to 650mb so its wasted space on any cards bigger than that the nearest is the 512mb is it a keyboard or a rack if its a key board you will need a 40 pin mail to 40 pin female extension cable as you will need to place the scsi card in the machine where there is a free space
