Front Panel Key problem

Front Panel Key problem

2010-01-05 by emax2@...

I just had a strange problem occur and hoped a service manual owner might have some insight.
I was formatting discs and rebooted. Lost font panel keys [No, 7,0, 9, record, Preset Mang,Enter].

Restarted several times with no change.

Any idea's?

I don't have the service manual, but it could be a sub scanner cpu problem. Did your emax freeze and did you have to reboot it because of it?.

Altough the Sub scanner cpu tends to fail on the whole keys, it could be a damaged area only.

Scanner chip is named IM-386 R1125 (a custom 6502 rockwell processor).

ALso look for some PCB damaged traces, it may be any cut trace too.

Just my 5 cents.

I think maybe a chip go bad makes sense but internal physical changes unlikely vecause the unit has not been opened or moved in a very long time.
