SD CARD Floppy Emulator

2010-04-14 by andrewwyates

Hi Folks,
Have any of you replaced your Emax floppy drive with an SD card reader ?
I've just bought an Emax 1 and am trying to figure out which of these devices will work with it (see links below) - If you've got one of these (or something similar) working please let me know. I had a look through the list archives but could not find anything on the subject.

The first link, the person that makes the floppy emulator may have to
write support for an Emax disk image.

Price here doesn't seem that bad. So may be viable if the software
will work / be updated to use Emax images.
It does say Schugart interface support, so a decent possibility of
being useful.

at the second link, I think this is very important:
 >> The FDD Emulators go from approximately 275 USD to 1,100 USD

And they still may have to write firmware or software to make it
compatible to read Emax Images.

- Why do this when you can get a known to work SCSI CF card drive from
online vendors for less money than the above???

The only practical purpose I can see is for rev 1 boards that can't
add SCSI.
But my understanding is those are few and far between....

My opinion,
Ted
