Emax1 OS Floppy - "Disk Not Formattet!"

Emax1 OS Floppy - "Disk Not Formattet!"

2010-11-22 by Kim

I made some Emaxos Floppys with EMXP and Omnifloppy, when i put them in the emax it says: "Disk Not Formattet!" and with some other Disks: "Disk Error!".

I use DSDD Disks and an PC with xp and internal drive.
The emax is a standard rack version from 1986.

Is there anything/ trick i am missing?

cheers k

from what i've read online you can only make an emax disk with either omniflop or emaxutil, not emxp. can't wait to get my emax up and running to try it myself =)

EMXP allows to make a formatted OS disk. You need yo have OMNIFLOP installed and go to EMXP. Format the floppy at first. Then place the OS into it. It should work. If not, something wrong is happening.

Thanx
The omniflop driver is installed. I tried both formating with empx and also with omniflop.
"Then place the OS into it."
Does than mean drag and drop on the drive or via empx? i just did it via empx.

If you want to put the OS on the formatted floppy disk, you have to do it in EMXP in menu 1.4..., not by dragging and dropping in Windows Explorer.
A formatted disk without an OS on it is sufficient in the Emax to load banks from it (or save banks to it). But if you also want to boot from that disk or be able to access modules (sample, preset management, preset definition, ...) with that disk inserted in the Emax, you have to put the OS on it via EMXP or EMX.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
