installing internal hard drive

2002-08-30 by mataloopy

Well I bought 2 hard drives for my Emax II
and external mac 100 meg, formated and works fine
and also a maxtor internal
Maxtor
MXT540S

this drive is listed as compatible on the emu archive,
but emax cannot find this drive or format it.

Im wondering if theres anything I can do to
correct this? is there something I need to do
to the drive such as marking its # ?

The drive is getting power for sure as I can hear it start

puzzled,

Is the termination turned on? The Emax II requires the end of the SCSI chain be
terminated.

how do I turn the termination on? I installed a terminator cap on
the other port on the external drive and the internal
is still not being reconized.

You would have to get that information from the drive manufacturer. You also need to
make sure you have it set for a SCSI ID not already being used, the floppy drive is SCSI
device #0,then you have the external device as well.

Re: [emax] installing internal hard drive

ok cool, I had no idea that i had to set the id on the drive
as it turns out , it looks like it was set to 0
so i found a chart from maxtor and moved a jumper pin to make it #2
the drive is formatting right now so i expect it to work fine

thanks

Matt
