Emax

Hi.I wish to buy Emax II to 4mg or with 8MB RAM. Of course, these are rarely specific pattern of sale and where are the 600 -800 Eur. Auctions in Germany 2214 model in poor condition. What do you say when to buy only 4mg of ram??? Hard to say and tell the condition of the chip. The seller writes that after the cleaning is not working. Itel number: 330528874954

Hi Aivis,

That price sounds quite high, particularly if it is not working. You can sometimes find Emax II 
samplers on Ebay. There is a rack on there now for USD 399 or about 300 EUR. You should always 
check how much RAM it has using the Master 2 Memory Remaining function. The model number is 
not a reliable indicator as many have been upgraded. Memory Remaining will report the number of 
16 bit words, not bytes, so a 8MB Emax II will report 4,194,260.

The problem is there that the sampler is damaged inside, and have no idea how much might be defective. the seller wrote: "no, I didn't have the keyboard checked by an expert. I just noticed that after having opened the keyboard case in order to clean the individual keys, it doesn't power up anymore. I can't say what is broken exactly - maybe just a cable got loose or the power supply has a defect - but, as said, I can't say definitely."

Well for 50 Euro it may be worth getting and seeing if you can get it repaired. There are people on this list 
who have repaired or replaced the power supplies on their Emax.
