1) Is your Emax equiped with a hard drive or a SCSI port to begin with?
2) If not forget trying to install your hard drive into your Emax.
3) If it is equiped reply back and we'll go to the next step.

Hi again Skip I just got my emax back after a while and am now ready to
connect up a the quantum pro drive.
In answer to your question there is a SCSI connection on the emax and when I
opened it up a I noticed a connecter for a 50 pin cable labeled CN2. I guess
this would be for a hard disc although none is presently fitted.

Hi,
The Emax 1 firmware does not support anything other than the 20MB Miniscribe
8425S and a small number of very unusual 10 - 20MB drives. The Emax will
only format 20MB and 36 banks. It will work with a SCSI ZIP100 drive,
although it will only format 20MB. THe ZIP is by far the best option, as is
infinite.

The Emax 2 firmware supports a wider range of drives, especially Quantum
Prodrives as the factory was nearby..

The Emax 1 motherboards often have a 50 pin SCSI connector, but you need the
SCSI chip and SCSI PAL chip and SCSI boot ROM for it to work...These parts
are quite expensive, so an upgrade can cost 100-150 US dollars.

Regards
Rob
