Anyone familiar with ESI-4000s? (Emax service codes?)

Anyone familiar with ESI-4000s? (Emax service codes?)

2012-10-10 by Chase Smith

I got one on ebay. Doesn't boot. Goes to a black screen, all leds light up except transpose. I know this means some service code, but I don't know what or how to find out.

Will it run without memory? Will it run without a floppy? The floppy is definitely dead. Memory probably.

I just need to figure out if I should file a claim on it or take a loss. It was cheap, but not that cheap. I want it to work though.

wont run with out memory you get blank screen

floppy not a problem as they have scsi

just fit a scsi cf drive thats what most people do on these

even though there is rom it uses the the onboard memory to work no ram no where for the rom to load the os to

have you tried reseting the ram

Yeah, there were two sticks just flopping around inside. I tried both of them in different configurations and got nothing.

What I meant to say about the floppy is, must it be connected or working? It looks totally dead. It doesn't make any sound when turning on either.

So I realized I have a pdf of the Emax Diagnostic with codes if anyone wants it. Does anyone have one for the ESI? I got a partial refund from the seller, but I'd still like to see if I can at least figure it out instead of trashing it.

Hey Anyone out there in NYC? I've searched all over New York City, and I cant find an EMAX2 boot OS disk. 3.5 DD Floppy. Nor can I find any DD floppies for sale to make my own. Is there anyone in NYC who has this? I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, if we can meet up or something and load it in I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for your help, if you can.

Best,

-Luke

I might be able to get you one Thursday if you want. I have an emax II. I'm not in Brooklyn, but I'm going there Thursday for a few days for the New Order show on Friday. Staying in Greenpoint so I usually get off the train at Bedford if you're close to there.
